Alberta Native Plant Production & Species

Bedrock Environmental has a 15 year history of pioneering the propagation of native plant material.  Our production has expanded in response to increasing demand for sustainable and low-impact landscaping options for public and private land developments.  We will be starting over 150,000 native plant plugs for 2012, most are destined for a number of commercial re-vegetation projects. We highly recommended that you pre-book your order early in 2012 to ensure the plant material is available when you need it. Pre-booking is closed for 2012. Please contact us for plant availability.

Pick from our extensive plant species listed under the Flower and Grasses pages and the Trees and Shrubs - check out our "Getting you Started" promotion for the spring.
Minimal water, low maintenance, winter hardy plants—the major components of nativescaping - this is our focus and our passion.

A native ecosystem is a complex chain of interactions where each species is linked, supported by and reliant on the next to survive.  From the tiny microbes in the soil to the tallest tree, these ecosystems support an abundance of diversity which is quickly disappearing.  Our mission is to provide some of the building blocks, the flowers, grasses and woody materials, to aid in the recovery of this diversity.  Once the plants are reintroduced insects will find new homes followed by birds, amphibians, invertebrates, small and large mammals then slowly the web of life begins to re-emerge.
When you choose native plant material for your project, you are laying the foundation for greater events to happen.  It may be a beautiful flower to you or a source of backyard fruit, but that species is an intricate part of life for many other organisms.
When you are ready, let us help you to lay a solid foundation for your site, one where nature has a role and a new home, thanks to you.
