HUNGARIAN VIOLET:   This common European flower blooms very early in spring, with dark to pale purple flowers. The drier the soil, the paler the colour of the flowers. Blooms can appear as early as late April. Reaching less than 15 cm in height, it is a perfect addition to the rock garden or border area. Seeds will benefit from a 3-4 week moist stratification period in order to break dormancy. If possible, seed outside in late fall direct in the ground. Cover the seeds with only .5 cm of soil. Flowers are edible.        40 seeds.    P660
