SWAMP MILKWEED:   Not a weed at all, this beautiful species does not spread by rhizomes like most other milkweeds. Native to Manitoba and farther east, it is the primary food of Monarch butterflies. Full sun with rich moist soils suit it best. Umbels of dark pink flowers appear in mid to late summer on plants to 100 cm + tall. Ideal candidate for centre gardens or as a backdrop to shorter species. Seeds can be sown direct in late fall or early spring or started indoors in containers after a 3-4 week stratification period. Cover the seeds with .5 cm of soil.  50 seeds.    P435
