BLUE SPEEDWELL: This fast growing perennial is still used in Europe to treat respiratory conditions. Tall spikes of bluish flowers appear mid- summer in year two. Plants can reach heights of 1 m. Speedwell has the most effect when planted en masse. Flowers attract bees in droves. I like to start the seeds in cell trays in April or early May and transplant out. Can be direct seeded in early May also. Cover the seeds only slightly. Full sun and average to dry soils is okay. Mature plants are quite drought tolerant - although the blooms are larger and last longer with average moisture. 3 year old plants can be divided in the spring. 100 seeds. P658
