
KNAUTIA MACEDONICA: Also listed as Scabiosa rumilica, this species produces masses of burgundy to blood-red pincushion flowers on wiry stems. Grows to 80 cm tall. Flowers begin to appear in June and continue on until September. Best planted in groups for effect. Seeds should be started in containers in April/May and transplanted out. Cover the seeds with .5 cm of soil and keep warm and moist until germination occurs. The species prefers a well-drained soil mixture in full sun. 80 seeds. P567
