HELIOPSIS: Also called Rough False Sunflower. A native of the tall grass prairie in Manitoba, this sun-loving species does equally well here. There are many variations on the market, some single and some double blooms. Our original seed came from Manitoba and from some local gardens and is a mix of both. A 3 week period of dry stratification will help the seeds to germinate. Seed direct in late fall, early April or start indoors in March for flowers the first fall. Soil on the dry side is best, with plenty of drainage. Flowers are excellent in fresh bouquets, while in the fall, American Goldfinches will be frequent visitors for the seed. To 100 cm tall. 60 seeds. P548
