GENTIAN ‘ NIKITA
BLUE’: Another
often overlooked species, this remarkable little plant grows well in our dry
land plots without any additional moisture.
Most Gentians prefer moist soils, this one is right at home in a sunny
well-drained site. Intense deep
blue flower clusters appear in mid summer on 30 cm tall plants.
A nice addition to the rock garden.
Seeds must be moist stratified for 4-5 weeks prior to starting inside in
containers for transplanting out. Cover
the seeds with .5 cm of soil. Seedlings
are slow to emerge and develop – be patient.
