EDELWEISS:  Classic alpine plant revered in Europe and beyond.   Grows only 20 cm high with soft white, fuzzy flowers. Foliage is a light grey and makes a good addition to the rock garden.  Plants do well in full sun and well-drained soils.  Wet roots, especially in late fall and early spring, will cause the roots to rot.  Good drainage is essential.  Seeds should be moist stratified for 2-3 week prior to starting indoors in April.  Cover the tiny seeds with just a light dusting of soil and keep moist until germination occurs.  60 seeds.    P569
