CHRYSANTHEMUM:
Once used as the primary source of pyrethrum, this beautiful cut flower produces large showy flowers in June and early July. Shades of pink and white flowers with yellow centres grow on stems that reach up to 80 cm tall. The foliage is dark green and almost fern-like in appearance. It turns yellow and brown after flowering, so best to hide these plants with other perennials. Seeds should be sown in early spring direct in a sunny, well-drained site or started indoors to be transplanted later. Cover the seeds with .5 cm of soil. They prefer soils rich in organic matter. 40 seeds. P470
