WHITE CHECKERMALLOW:   There are many varieties of this plant sold in greenhouses and such - this is the 'wild' species native to the Rocky Mountains of the American West. Flowers are pure white and are borne in clusters on stems 30-60 cm tall. Plants form a colony over time by rhizomes under the soil. Full sun and poor well-drained soils suit it best - it will thrive almost anywhere there is good drainage though. I have only started seeds indoors in April in containers then transplanted out - not sure if direct seeding works here. Cover the seeds with .5 cm of soil. Germinates best with higher temperatures.  30 seeds.    P648
