RIGID GOLDENROD: This Goldenrod produces its flowers in flat-topped clusters, unlike S. canadensis which is more pyramidal in shape. The flowers appear in August and into September. Contrary to belief, it does not cause hay fever. Loved by butterflies and other nectar feeders. Plants grow to from 40-80 cm tall and can be divided after year three. Does not spread by rhizomes, but produces plenty of seeds. Plant in the spring or scatter seeds on the soils surface in late fall and rake over very lightly. Seeds need light to germinate. Full to partial sun with soil on the drier side suit it best. 100 seeds. NF814
