REFLEXED LOCOWEED:   Although not a showy specimen, this species is important as an addition to any native site. Not only does it add nitrogen to the soil in our cold climate, it is also an early colonizer of disturbed sites - making it important as a reclamation species. A tufted perennial that reaches to 40 cm tall with small bluish purple flowers in mid summer. Seeds should be sown in late fall or early spring . A period of cold stratification will help improve germination, so does scarification (scratching the seed coating). Seeds should be covered with no more than .5 cm of soil.  Favors full sun.    80 seeds.    NF815.
