
NARROW-LEAVED SUNFLOWER: Distributed throughout much of the southern prairies, this species can reach heights of 2 m or more with a multitude of bright yellow flowers appearing in mid summer and continuing on until October. Seeds are readily eaten by finches in the fall and the flowers are often visited by Hummingbirds. Seeds can be direct sown in late fall or early April or started indoors after a 3-4 week moist stratification process. Cover the seeds with 1 cm of soil. Prefers full sun and moisture retentive soils. May bloom the first year from seed. 80 seeds. NF775
