YELLOW MONKEYFLOWER:
One of
my favorite Alberta native species, it does well in partial shade to almost full
shade. Native to the southwest
corner of the Province, M. guttatus can be found alongside stream banks and
forest clearings in the mountains. Yellow
funnel-shaped flowers cover the plant from July onwards till late September.
Blooms quickly from a spring seeding – ideal for containers.
Seeds and seedlings are extremely tiny- do not cover the seeds..
It spreads by rhizomes and seeds to form a colony over time.
One of the more adaptable native plants.
