LOW MILKWEED: This species is rather rare in the province, found mostly in East-Central portions of the province and sometimes in the Peace region. Growing to 40 cm tall with yellowish-green flowers, it is easily distinguished from Showy Milkweed, its close relative. It doesn't spread as rapidly as Showy does through rhizomes under the soil, making it more suitable for the smaller native gardens. Seed should be sown in late fall or very early spring direct in the soil. If starting in containers inside, the seeds should be cold stratified for 4-5 weeks prior to planting. Cover the flat seeds with just a light dusting of soil. Full to partial sun and average soil and moisture. 60 seeds. NF723
