WESTERN CLEMATIS: Native vine that is found in river valleys and coulees in southern parts of the province. Does not resemble other Clematis flowers, more like an aster or fleabane - white to cream in colour. Germination and early development can be slow and difficult, but once established is a very winter hardy perennial. Tolerates some drought conditions. Best to plant direct in late fall or moist stratify for 4 weeks prior to a spring planting. Cover seeds only slightly. Keep the crown cool and shaded, especially for the first three years. May reach 3 m or more but needs support or a trellis to climb.   70 seeds.    NF748
