VENIDIUM: Also called Cape Daisy, this South African species likes it dry and in full sun. Large, up to 13 cm across, the flowers are white with a dark purple to black centre ring. The greenish-silver foliage is deeply lobed and covered with fine hairs. Like many African species, the flowers close on cloudy days and in the evenings. Plants reach heights of 50-70 cm high. Start Venidium in cell trays in early April and transplant out when frost danger is past. Must be grown in full sun and very dry conditions or the plants will rot. Cover the seeds with less than .5 cm of soil and do not over water the seedlings. 40 seeds. A288
