MALOPE:   Similar in appearance to Lavatera, this native of Spain is a great addition to the cut flower garden or as a showpiece when planted en masse. Growing to 100cm tall and up to 80cm across, it produces large mallow-like flowers in dark pink to almost red. Seeds should be started indoors in early April to maximize the bloom period. Cover the seeds with .5 cm of soil. Transplant out when all danger of frost has past. Plants should be spaced 25-30 cm apart. Full sun with a sandy loam soil is best.  Makes an excellent cut flower.   60 seeds.    A146
