JASMINE TOBACCO:   This is the highly scented cultivated variety of flowering tobacco - large white luminescent flowers appearing in mid summer on 150 cm tall plants. Scent is sweet and strongest on humid cloudy days or in the evening. I actually enjoy weeding near these plants just for the smell. Full sun and soils rich in organic matter with plenty of water is best. If grown in too much shade, the plant stems become weak and tend to topple over. Seeds should be covered with just a light dusting of soil and started inside in late March.
