CALENDULA: Produces a profusion of yellow/orange blooms well into late fall. Easily reseeds itself. Can be invasive if not controlled. Flower petals can be used as a substitute for saffron in cooking. Flowers are also used to make an ointment that works well for cuts and skin rashes. Promotes formation of granular tissue in wounds and inhibits inflammation. Easy to grow. Cover seed with 1 cm soil and keep moist. Direct seed in the garden in early May. Plants grow 45-50 cm tall.
