ASTER, CALIFORNIA:  A grand flower for late summer and autumn, single asters range in colour from white, pink shades, purple and violet to the occasional yellow. They grow to 40 cm high and have 9 cm + blooms. Start seed indoors in early April, cover seed only lightly. Transplant out at spacing of 30cm apart. Asters grow best in full sun, well-drained soils, cool evenings and warm days. Aster are susceptible to Yellowing Disease carried by leaf-hoppers. Also Asters should never be planted in the same spot each year as pathogens build in the soil that can destroy them.   40 seeds.    A055
